has at least two tenure-track and/or term positions beginning August
2001 at Sessional, Assistant Professor or higher ranks in Computing
Science and/or Information Systems and/or Mathematics. The successful
applicant(s) will teach both lower level and upper level courses in at
least two of these three areas.
Teaching experience and strong academic and personal references are
required. Preference will be given to expertise in one or more of:
pure or discrete mathematics, information systems, operating systems,
software engineering, AI, or logic programming. However, versatility is
more important than speciality. Integrative, cross-discipline,
multi-language, multi-vendor, multi-platform generalists are preferred.
Candidates should have teaching or industrial experience with some of:
Modula-2, Ada, Smalltalk and C/C++/Java, and/or standard application
suites, and/or pure mathematics.
Minimum academic qualification: For tenure track, a Ph.D. (or
equivalent) in Mathematics and/or Computing Science and a credible
research program; for sessional or term positions, a M.Sc. in
Informatics, ISYS, or MACS may be considered. Junior faculty
applications are welcome, but master teachers and/or senior faculty are
especially invited. The successful applicant will be fluent in English
and a self-starter capable of taking leadership in developing courses
and programmes, making significant contributions to the University.
Our department <http://www.csc.twu.ca/> has four microcomputer labs for
departmental and service courses using MacOS, NT, and Linux. Faculty
interests include: standards, languages, software engineering, data
structures, numerical analysis, and object oriented programming.
Initial instruction is in Modula-2, then C++/Java, and afterwards
varies with course needs. We offer degrees in Mathematics, MACS, and
Computing Science, and have a growing Minor in Information Systems.
