It can't be...
Tim Powers, today at 9:46 AM EDT

Stephane Dion, if you listen to him, keeps telling us how trustworthy,
decent and just the best darn guy ever he is. Well, I am sure he is a
good fellow. But now it appears he might have been involved of some
cribbing of his own.

If people are still debating plagiarism, then the entry below from
respected Conservative Stephen Taylor's blog about Dion is kind of
interesting.

If this is accurate, will Dion expel himself?

Here is Stephen's entry:

You be the judge.

From an article written by Charles Mandel for Canwest on March 7th,
2008:

In a major forthcoming report on Canada's changing climate, scientists
warn of everything from increased severe storm activity in Atlantic
Canada to hotter summers and poorer air quality in urban Ontario.
British Columbia may face retreating glaciers and snow loss on its
mountains, causing potential water shortages. The Prairie provinces
will continue to struggle with drought, impacting agriculture rurally
and potentially causing water rationing in urban areas.

On March 14th, 2008, Stephane Dion gave a speech on climate change
which included the following paragraph:

In a new report released quietly last week by the federal Department
of Natural Resources, 145 leading Canadian scientists warned that
Canada's changing climate will lead to everything from increased
severe storms in Atlantic Canada to drought in the Prairies. British
Columbia may face retreating glaciers and snow loss on its mountains,
causing potential water shortages. There will be hotter summers and
poorer air quality in urban Ontario. And the Prairies will continue to
struggle with drought, affecting agriculture and potentially causing
water rationing in urban areas.

Go back and reread it.

First text is attributed to a columnist.

The second text, almost word for word the same as the first, is
attributed to Stephane Dion.

You re-read, particularly the part that says "Stephane Dion gave a speech on

climate change which included the following paragraph: In a new report

released quietly last week by the federal Department of Natural Resources,".
In other words, he has credited the original source. THAT IS NOT
PLAGIARISM! According to Swinburne U of T, "Plagiarism is the action or
practice of taking and submitting or presenting the thoughts, writings or
other work of someone else as though it is your own work." "you are
expected to acknowledge that someone else wrote the words or developed or
wrote about the ideas that you have used"
What part of that did Dion violate? Using such guidelines, how do you
support a charge of plagiarism? Or do you just have a hard-on for Dion?
