Present were Tom, Sami, Joe, Bryan, Jacob and myself.
As promised, Bryan had brought along the "36 Cube" game, claiming to be "The world's most challenging puzzle" for ages 8 to adult. There's a wikipedia page (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36_cube), and other references on the web.
Anyway, the group had various attempts at a collaborative solution, with Tom presenting a variant of a remembered Suduko solver that appeared to get as close as possible to the (believed) nearest perfect solution that didn't use the "clever trick" that is apparently built into the puzzle to allow a full solution.
Joe and I also spent some time trying to solve the actual physical puzzle - we were quite pleased with how well we did, even it if was nowhere near as impressive as Tom's solution.
All in all, I think it was an interesting evening.
Tom, Jacob and myself then retired to the Flying Pig for a short while, and discussed other stuff (including Tom and I disagreeing about how useful unit testing is again - I *think* this is partly just because we work with different types of system).
And the next meeting will be a talks meeting, so anyone who has anything to talk about would be very welcome to suggest it on group (lightning talks welcome too!).
