Hi folks,

My name is Ragnar Dahlén and I'm a swedish expat who quite recently
moved to Cambridge.

I have been tinkering with and enjoying Clojure sporadically for a few
years, mostly for hobby stuff so far, and I have been quite active in
the Stockholm Clojure User Group since its inception.

I was happy to find a user group in Cambridge, and now I'm of course
wondering what the outlook is. I have understood meetings have taken
place on tuesdays, but the activity seems a bit irregular and sporadic
(as was it in Stockholm). Is there still any activity and are there
any meetings planned?

I'd love to meet some people with intersecting interests.

Best regards,

Ragnar Dahlén

Hi Ragnar,

we haven't met for a while - which is largely my fault as I haven't issued a call to arms recently as my life has been turned upside down with a new baby and new house :-)

However, I think we should treat your arrival as a trigger to instigate another meeting. Our schedule has been to meet on the first Tuesday of the month which would mean next Tues the 4th of September. We've met in the Devonshire Arms recently, so unless anyone has an alternative suggestion I suggest we meet there from 7.30pm.

There was some discussion at euroclojure about doing dojos or similar to give our events more structure and help bring people in. I was going to try and follow up on that but work, the jvmls, and life somehow got in the way.

I'm afraid I won't be there this Tuesday, as I'll be in Chicago.

I'm totally into that. We could also do some swarm coding.

Perhaps a more suitable venue would be CB2?

Me too. I remember chatting to a few of you about this at EuroClojure,
but haven't done anything in the way of organizing. Now that the
summer holidays are over, it's a good time to get something off the
ground.

Please explain...

It's certainly a better venue for dojo-like activities (even if the
beer is not so good).

Ray.

I have heard babies can cause a bit of a stir... :-)

I don't have any plans next tuesday, so I'd be happy to meet under any form. We haven't tried swarm coding in Stockholm yet (although that's exactly the agenda for the next meeting), but it definitely sounds interesting.

That sounds a lot like the wolf pack concept some of the Smalltalk people came up with. It's pretty good fun with the right group of people.

I have unfortunately come down with a fever today, so I'll have to miss tonight, if anybody was going... Sorry for the late reply. I hope there will be a next time!

Speaking of which, is anybody going? Did we agree a time and place?
Should we bring a laptop?

Ray.

Tragically, I'm unable to come :-( I was really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately I've got to have an in-depth action-plan-discussion with my wife regarding my sleepless baby son now that she's had new information from the health visitors...

Hopefully you all have a great time,

Sam

Hmm, looks like we're short of a quorum for tonight. Unless there's a
mad rush of "I'll be there!" messages in the next 20 minutes, I'll
give it a miss too.

Assuming there's no meeting tonight, would anyone be up for a purely
social get-together at the Devonshire Arms *next* Tuesday?

Ray.
