Hi everyone,

A total of 12 people trekked to the Lawrence Woods section of the Middlesex Fells this morning to see what we could find on an early spring day. Many of the attendees were non-members and folks who cannot regularly make Tuesday evening meetings. Some of the highlights were overwintering halictids, Microdon sp. syrphids in an ant nest, gregarious ground nesting bees or wasps, a red-backed salamander and my first blue butterfly of the season. There is a better recap in this photo album. For the ant folks - can you ID the ants with the Microdons and the ants with the root aphids from the photos? Please let me know if you have any trouble accessing the photo album. It is a Picasa album so you may need a Picasa account through Google to access the photos.

I will send an announcement for Prof. Francie Chew's meeting next week tomorrow.

Best,
