To all Cambridge Entomological Club members and entomology enthusiasts,

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 10th, will be the second meeting of the club's 2009-10 season at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, room 101 (26 Oxford Street, Harvard University) at 7:30pm, preceded by dinner at the Law School cafeteria (2nd floor of Harkness Commons) at 6:15pm.

Gary Alpert of Harvard will speak on "The Ants of the Colorado Plateau", which will begin with an introduction to the Global Ant Project and the Encyclopedia of Life--a pragmatic approach to creating a webpage for every species on earth--by David Lubertazzi of Harvard.  Approximately 130,000 square miles of the Southwest are encompassed by the Colorado Plateau.  Included within this region are the Grand Canyon, the Navajo Reservation, Zion National Park, Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde and many other protected areas.  Gary will present what little we know about ant diversity within this region and a strategy to learn more.  He will be working with David on developing content on ant identification and distribution and will show how collaboration with him will enhance his research goals.

CEC meetings are free and open to the public.  Snacks will be provided.

We hope to see you tomorrow!
