Subject: Expired certificate from eternal september
Quick question: Is anyone else getting a notice of expired certificate
when accessing eternal-september on TLS port 563?

I'm on 8119 and it's all ok.

Hmmm... That port doesn't work at all for me.  Just hangs at the
'Authenticating' stage.

Oh well. One of life's little mysteries. :)

I had this problem too, but it works now for me. Unfortunately
I don't know why it works now.

I "deleted" the news server (in thunderbird) and rejoined it,
using an unencrypted port (119). Since then I switched back to 563
and it still works. It could be that the certificate was updated in the
meantime, or it could be that deleting and rejoining the news server
helped somehow.

There are discussions here

http://www.eternal-september.org/WebClient/article.php?id=4369&group=...
and possibly elsewhere on their forums, but I did not need to use
their remedy of explicitly allowing the certificate.

Yes, it wasn't just a TBird problem - I use Opera and was getting exactly
the same issues.  Apparently, e-s's use of the StartCom cert has now been
updated and your deleting & rejoining of the server has loaded that
updated permission.

I install betas (and alphas) of Opera and I suspect that one of them has
forced a similar reload of the updated certificate.
