Hello Randonneurs, we are trying to get content for a sort of “What
could be done better next time?” survey of RUSA members who did
participate; regardless of finishing officially or not, in the 17th
ed of Paris-Brest-Paris in 2011. Any sort of thoughts you may have had
about the event are welcome.
As suggestions try, bikes, and equipment of course. But as we are
concerned with the entire event as whole unto itself, lodging, support/
control facilities, food availability, sleep availability, start-
finish area, are all part of the whole thing. So a ride report or
simply comments on what worked or didn't for you are the idea.
For example, “What did you think of the Hotel Campanile?” Clearly,
from the replies already, the event is not for average bike equipment,
people report using above average quality parts to way above average
level parts. Nor, is it something done without considerable planning
and expense.
For confidentiality, names will not likely be used and contacting
myself off-list is preferable to using space on Randon. With work we
may produce a useful document for new RUSA riders to learn from. With
thanks, Ben

i didn't ride pbp in 2011, but would like to comment on a line that is quite bizarre to me:
