This group is for discussion about CAL, a strongly-typed lazy functional language for the Java virtual machine, as manifest in the Open Quark Framework (http://labs.businessobjects.com/cal). Hi, we have made a update site for Eclipse 3.4 & 3.5:
[link]
(the [link] did not work
with eclipse > 3.3)

 Hi
I just tried entering [link]
into Eclipse as an update site but Eclipse (3.5) reports "no
repository found". If I try to open the URL in Safari I get "Document
could not be loaded by browser". Any ideas as to what the problem is?
Thanks
Dave.

This looks like an interesting STM implementation:
[link] and would be easier
to integrate with CAL than Clojure's STM would be.

For the former issue, I need to get around to reinstalling some svn
software on that server - though I'm thinking about rehosting the
sources anyway somewhere else... GitHub?

On the latter issue, the update directory had somehow got its file
permissions set to "no access" for everyone other than root. Not sure

 Hi Raoul,

I'm just starting to use CAL in a class project on parallel
computation - I'm using it as the foundation for a little DSL that can
automatically be optimized for parallel evaluation (hopefully :)

I used to program in CAL a fair bit back when it was used internally
at Business Objects.

 Hi Raoul,

I don't think that's too hard -- I have written my own STM for CAL,
and while I suspect that mine was not nearly as performant as
Clojure's, it seemed to be correct -- I implemented the Santa problem
from Beautiful Code and a bunch of other small programs. I hadn't come
across Clojure at the time, so I didn't try that 'ants' example. I

I'm sometimes confused by CAL's space behaviour, but I think that's
just me :-) I can control it by adding strictness annotations, and I
don't recall any unexpected behaviour.

The global optimizer performs various transformations -- on the
assumption that these aren't applied in the REPL you might see
