Subject: Very Slow Cakephp 1.2 + XAMP + WINXP
Hi,
looking for help!

I'm running cakephp 1.2 on apache2, (xamp ) on winxp but....

Cakephp is running VERY SLOWLY!! I'd say 15 to 20 seconds for a simple
hello world page. Half the time apache gives a server time out error.

I have the default config as per the cakephp manual.

Any ideas how I can improve this as it is simply not feasible to
develop with at the moment?

kind regards

Jamie

I run Cake this way (XAMPP on XP), and it's very quick. What in
particular is slow for you ?

Thanks for all the feedback:

Versions:
cakephp: 1.2.0.7945
XAMPP 1.7.0(includes apache 2.2.11)
WINXP SP2
2 Gig of mem.

Problem:
I have 2 controllers, very simple. Outputs about 4 rows for a
database. It takes very long for the page to display, or results in
server timeout.

Hi Webweave, that's strange that it's working fine for you. What
versions are you using?  You wusing mod rewrite for pretty urls in
cake?

Hi Slawil, thanks for the info, but I don't understand why the
firewall would affect it considering other PHP based scripts work fine
on my winxp/XAMPP machine.

Thanks again!!
Jamie

Hi,

this could be a problem with your firewall, as slawil mentioned.
ZoneAlarm caused this problem in my case. I had to *uninstall it
completely*, switching it off didn't work, so it took me some time to
figure it out.... The Sygate Firewall seems to be a working solution,
at least for Win XP.

Interesting, I've tried the cakephp, + xampp on different winxp
machine.

Works fine!!

I'm stumped. Must be something on the original machine. I'm going to
reinstall xampp and cake php.

Thanks for all the help!
