The Caferati city groups were formed to help our city coordinators run read-meets.
And since these read-meets involve face-to-face interaction, most of our members like to know a bit about the people who join up. So we set up 'Introductions' threads in each group. Unfortunately Google Groups automatically closes threads that have been silent for more than 30 days. And we have neglected to either keep those threads alive or start new ones (and in the case of the newest groups, we haven't got down to posting them yet).
Our apologies if you have tried to add to an existing Introductions thread and been stymied.
New members -- and older members who have lurked unintroduced thus far -- are requested to please add a few words about yourself to this thread. (As a courtesy to members who subscribe to the Digest option, please delete this text from your reply.)
We recommend around a hundred words, give or take fifty. Life stories are not compulsory; since we're a writers' forum, what we *would* like to know is the kind of writing you've done, what you most like to write, what you see yourself writing in the future, perhaps something about the parts of your writing that you're working on improving and are looking for some help on, that kind of thing. If you have samples of your writing online, please do leave links.
We're looking forward to getting to know you.
Regards,
Peter (and also for Annie and Manisha)
P.S. For those of you who still are not clear as to this group's purpose, you are reminded to read the FAQs - http://www.caferati.com/faqs - in particular the section on read-meets - http://www.caferati.com/faqs/#readmeetfaqs - both linked to prominently on this group's home page. There is also a document posted to this group's site called "Caferati newsgroup etiquette" To read it, when you're visiting the group's page, scroll down to the "Pages" section below "Discussions" and "Members" or click the "Pages" link in the right column.
Apologies again to those of you who attempted to reply to this thread. In most of the groups, it has been automatically closed by GoogleGroups. This should re-open it.
Ryze has (finally!) responded to requests to introduce the 'sticky posts' feature, so that thread will stay at the top, for members to scroll through at leisure.

In most of our groups, this has been automatically closed by GoogleGroups. This should re-open it. (If you've posted an reply to this address this email is coming from rather than to the group you're a member of, pretty please, introduce yourself to the group now.)

(If you've previously posted an reply to caferati at gmail dot com, rather than to the group you're a member of, pretty please, introduce yourself to the group now.) We'd also like to have all of you, old members and new, come add your introductions to this thread on the forum - http://www.ryze.com/posttopic.php?topicid=989139&confid=1199 - if you haven't done so already.
