I just saw Neil Hamburger last night and he was hilarious. Such a ridiculous comedian. When I first heard of him as being on the Ipecac record label and checked out some of his youtube clips I did not find him entertaining at all...but his live act was amazing. My friend saw him two nights ago and last night but he did different sets, and he said one show was terrible and he got booed, but the other show was well received. Anyone else seen him and like him or does not like him, or anyone have Great Phone Calls and is it worth the listen?
"What do you call a group of crying, down on their luck, economically depressed black men carrying a coffin? The Jackson Four" -Neil Hamburger
Glad someone's talking about this phenomenon because I have 'Great Phone Calls' but I can't understand any damned entire call... because I'm not fluent in "english spoken" when I don't see the lips of those who are speaking, and this CD is particularly hard to follow : speedy conversations with strange voices + what I would name "the phone effect" (you know like a filter on the voice itself). It seems sometimes outrageous and hilarious but... I'm french. Maybe kicking ass joker, maybe total wanker, I can't tell and it's frustrating... But I like the idea of a guy taking risks and blowing people's mind in provocative way. He seems to be based in Australia where he only makes his shows (am I wrong ?).
Thanks for your post but, you know, Dan : if you don't even name "Flüh Nülh Mühl" once in a post, the other CVers won't understand what you're talking about.

Good call Dan. I think Neil Hamburger is awesome. I've seen him 4 or 5 times and I agree, some shows are funnier than others......but even on the bad nights his jokes might not be funny but HE is funny.....his persona and the way he delivers jokes is hilarious.
Great phone calls is an ok laugh, nothing life changing.

I had a chat with him after "them that shall not be named so as to not offend J," he is a top bloke. Said he has a whole faxed head album done and just trying to pin Trey down to record it. He lives in the states nowdays.

Wow. I just remembered how to use Google. I had no idea.
I don't dig Neil Hamburger at all. Nor do I like Faxed Head much. There you go...
Sometimes I fantasise about what would've happened with FNM if Spruance worked out. How we would've been so awesome to see live with them. The following album/s.
Oh I wish Spruance could apply his wonderful guitar playing to more pallatable material...

Yes, he's real name is Gregg TURKINGTON. He "sings" in each FAXED HEAD album.
Moreover, who can tell which guys are behind each F.H.'s mask ? (except Trey as Neck Head, Gregg TURKINGTON [as Neil HAMBURGER] as McPatrick Head, Phil FRANKLIN as LaBrea Tar Pits Head) ?
