We can deduct 500 for the rebuild to reuse your shaft. The CR rudders we have taken apart have had large hollow places inside the rudder, low density foam, even hollow PVC pipe inside. The strap coming off the shaft is very flimsy, light weight strapping, like a 16 gauge. We will weld new stainless strapping to the shaft. Please visit out web page www.newrudders.com. There is a nice explanation of our process.
You are looking at one week to make a new rudder. Since you are on the hard we will fit you in.
Thanks,
Al Walker

Tell me more about the rebuild program, are these rudders poooly constructed? This one is 30 yrs old has no looseness along the shaft no obious cracking along the leading edge or blisters,in my life with boats I,know it is almost impossible to have a dry rudder.I,can bring to old one to you,What will a rebuild entail and cost?Loaded question I,know. Is your new rudder a sold stainless shaft? Is the old one?As i,said before I,live in Stuart can't be that far away from you.Whats your turn around time or If I want a new one how long.Boats on the Hard now.30.00 a day. Please get back to me asap.

The price for a new rudder and steel is 2232.00 plus shipping. We have a rebuild program but the internal steel structure of the CR 38 is so poor that the shaft is all that is reusable. Production time is 2-3 weeks. Thank you for your inquiry.
