I would use the 316. I got mine from a local fastener house in Myrtle Beach SC. I'll look them up if you don't have a supply house local.

One of our spring upgrades is a line control setup for our Schaefer traveler. The only thing that is preventing us from completing the project is finding some replacement fasteners to secure the new traveller control ends through the track and the fiberglass risers. I'm looking for 1/4"-20x6" flathead machine screws in either aluminum or 316 stainless. Does anyone have a source? Thanks.

Definitely use 316.  I don't think aluminum is either available or close to strong enough at that length.  Are you sure you need 6"?  That's really long for a 1/4-20 machine screw.  Mcmaster has them in 18-8 (which is basically 304).  They have shorter lengths in 316.    -Tom

I'm afraid I really do need them 6" long. I pulled out (3) of them and they varied in length from just under 5-1/2" to almost 6". There are (4) of them securing the track to the riser on each side, all of them1/4-20 aluminum. There are two holes in the new Schaefer end controls and I was going to use one existing track hole and one new tapped hole for each control end. Breck, I would appreciate the name of that supply house if you have it. Thanks.

These guys used to be great, but Fawcett bought them and now you can't really walk in and get whatever you want. Still it may be worth a try:

Have you checked with Rig Rite?  They have supplied some items for us.  Then there are times you get no response, but you may have some luck there.

Good luck.

Rig Rite to the rescue! After a lot of searching I found what I needed at Rig Rite. Thanks to everyone who had suggestions. For anyone who is curious 1/4-20x6" flat head machine screws in 316 stainless are $8/each.
