New in the Knowledge Bank

The knowledge bank of the Fietsberaad tries to present the most complete overview of information relating to cycling and associated subjects.

The most relevant documents as well as the summaries of many other documents have therefore been translated into English. A selection of recent documents.

Fietsberaad International goes into Dutch Cycling Embassy

There will be a new phase for the Dutch input to strengthen the position of cycling in the world: the Dutch Cycling Embassy. In the Dutch Cycling Embassy all parts of the Dutch cycle World join forces: Consultants, engineers, science, industry, government, and NGO’s. We are looking forward to continue the dialogue with the growing number of people and organisations who want to promote cycling. Finding ways to co-operate until it becomes as natural for everyone in the world to grab the bike for as default transport mode for short and medium distance trips as it is in the Netherlands.

RFID tag allows rewarding cyclists

The U.S. company Dero has recently introduced a product to count cyclists. Unlike existing counters, the Dero counter employs an RFID tag. That means that individual cyclists can be recognized, providing possibilities for reward systems, for instance.

Wide range of possibilities to reduce number of cycling accidents

Austria introduces mandatory helmet for children
