Republicans will still try to keep the heat on - but the story's dead.
They wanted to know why the press releases about the embassy were
contradictory.
They said it was because Obama was a Kenyan Communist - but that was crazy.
So some reasonable legislators looked into it and it turns out it was a CIA
issue.
The attack against the embassy was targeting the CIA there.
The CIA had classified material and ongoing operations that needed to be
kept secret.
So the press releases were crafted such that details about those secrets
would not be revealed.
Unfortunately, like al Quaeda, the Republican party sees the US government
as it's enemy.
So when they accused us of keeping secrets from them - they were right.
But there was no scandal to take away Americans' guns or by Obama to kill an
ambassador.
That's just stuff Republican celebrities say on TV to get anti-government
crazies to give them money.

Since September, Republicans have claimed the Obama administration
covered up the truth about the attack on the American consulate in
Benghazi, Libya by altering the talking points Susan Rice used on the
Sunday morning talk shows. To bolster the story, Republicans misquoted
or significantly embellished the emails officials used to draft Rice’s
remarks, the CBS Evening News reported Thursday.
CBS News’ Major Garrett confirmed that it was a GOP source who leaked
the altered emails.
The miscast quotes affect at least two emails that include a State
Department spokesperson and a White House deputy adviser — the two
parties GOP lawmakers insist were trying to engage a cover-up on
behalf of the Obama administration to protect the president’s chances
of re-election.

organization from an AFP source that states that murdered Ambassador
Christopher Stevens, was raped by his captors before being killed. The
Libyan Free Press also televised the story:

from their site. Wonder if Youtube got a call from the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff like American pastor Terry Jones did, and was
�asked� to take down potentially offensive (and truthful) material?
Obama�s State Department earlier on Wednesday apologized to Muslims that
they were offended by �irresponsible� Americans exercising their right
to free speech, as the �cause� of the attacks is reported to have been
due outrage over a Youtube video that insults the Prophet Mohammed.
That spin does not hold water when it is being learned that these
attacks were planned well in advance and the video being used as cover
to suggest the attacks were spontaneous. Also learned was that the same
Libyan Security forces that Obama praised so highly in his short
address, gave up consulate personnel including Stephens, to the
Islamists who ended up murdering them.
All of this happened nearly at the same time Obama was giving an address
to salute the Arab Forum on 9-11 Tuesday.

"The YouTube video was a non-event in Libya." This simple statement of
fact explicitly and forcefully contradicts the White House's dishonest
"online video" spin, which was repeated ad nauseam by numerous
high-ranking administration officials and certain members of the media.
The president's hand-picked spokesperson on the matter -- UN
Ambassador Susan Rice -- told the American people on the Sunday after
the attack that the raid was the "direct result of a heinous and
offensive video." The Weekly Standard's Stephen Hayes obtained the
original and revised talking points last week; the documents leave
little doubtthat the White House and State Department wanted to
white-wash the clear terrorism angle. Hicks told the committee that he
found Rice's comments on national television "stunning" and
"embarrassing." When he sent his objections up the food chain at State,
he was subjected to a "blistering attack" and was "effectively demoted."
Hicks also testified today that he personally informed Sec. Clinton by
phone that the US diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under terrorist
attack in the opening minutes of the incident. Days later, she stood
next to the flag-draped coffins of the fallen and blamed the raid on an
"awful internet video."
