Born and educated in Romania, Carla Gottlieb has taught art history at Bryn
Mawr, Sarah Lawrence, the New School, the University of Illinois, Carleton
University (Ottawa), and chaired the art history department at Ripon College.
Dr. Gottlieb has contributed numerous articles to national and international
professional jour nals, among which are studies of Matisse, Picasso, Duchamp,
as well as the iconography and principles of modern art. She is the coauthor
of the book The Meaning of Death.
