HUNTSVILLE — A 55-year-old Centerville man died Saturday after having
a heart attack while mountain biking with his son, police said.
Rick Bastian was biking near Snowbasin around 11:30 a.m. when he had a
heart attack and went into cardiac arrest, said Weber County Sheriff's
Sgt. Teresa Perkins. An off-duty registered nurse was able to perform
CPR until medical personnel arrived, Perkins said.
Because Bastian was in a "pretty remote location" at the time,
officials had to hike into the area so they could get him out on a
backboard, she said. He was then transported by AirMed to Ogden
Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Perkins said.

Man dies of heart attack while biking
Did you hear about the THREE runners that died at the Detroit Half Marathon
over the weekend?
Talk about the health affects of exercise! Pass the potato chips ...
Not really. You had to go back several times as far to find even one
such death. Considering how many more hikers there are, and how many
fewer deaths there are, mountain biking is MUCH likelier to kill you.
Be honest.
Don't you know the difference between a hiker and a runner? Sheesh,
you mountain bikers and mountain biker wannabees are so DUMB!
Hey Mike, can I have some of your frequent flier miles? Thanks.
<JS>
According to you, the health effects are by all measures the same, everybody
dies.
PS
When are you gonna get a real news reader and stop posting from
GoogleGroups?
Rookie.

Only if your news service is really just entertainment.
Common as flies dieing here, but hardly news worthy unless they die
somewhere noteworthy like the Kokoda Track; one for each of the last two
moths so far.
Personally I couldn't car less how they die. At lest they were active and
not a couch spud.
Sincere condolences to his friends and family.
