I am a new member and was just testing the autopatch today. I was
able to successfully make a phone call to my byu office phone.

I also tried making a call to a local phone number which I could not
get to work. I tried 95551234 which gave me a recorded message from
the phone system about not being able to complete the call. So I also
tried 98015551234. When I put the full 10 digit phone number with
area code it simple returns morse code which I did not decode. I also
tried the reverse patch with code and could not seem to get any ring
over the radio.

I'd like to learn and successfully test a local call and the reverse
patch.

Any help from those who have used it or configured it would be much
appreciated.

I'm willing to help out on club equipment projects. I would like to
learn the details of the autopatch system and help if it needs some
updating after the new required area code change. I'm also
interested in satellite communications, internet linking, and aprs.

Thanks.

Steve,

You must be the first person to try to call a local off-campus number with
the autopatch since they started requiring the area code on all numbers.
I completely forgot that the mask for acceptable numbers had to be changed
to match that requirement.

I am at work and can't make the change from here, but tonight I will
correct the programming to allow numbers with area code but NOT preceeded
by a 1.

Steve, and everyone else,

I believe the autopatch is now fixed so that you can dial 10 digits as
long as it doesn't start with a 1. And if anyone was monitoring the
repeater, I'm sorry about the extended busy signal while I was trying to
find the code to drop the patch - I clearly don't use the system often
enough.

Now what we need to do is get a google voice number (http://www.google.com/googlevoice/about.html) and that way it wouldn't matter who we called.  I just got my Google number and it works really well.  Just a thought,
