Dear Marcis,

     Look up works like Chandomañjarī and Vr̥ttaratnākara.  These are very useful to get general definitions of meters and the commentaries quote examples from across the poetic literature.  Best,

One of the best and earliest publications is जयदामन्,edited by Prof.H D Velankar of Mumbai.He has edited other books also on Meters.

I have to admit that how to use https://archive.org/details/vrittaratnakarachandomanjaritaranathatarkavachaspatijivanandavidyasagara1915_202002/mode/2up is not clear to me and there is no guidance, there is no etry point for me.
