namo vidvadbhyah
CArvAkamatakha.n.danam is done (
mostly indirectly , i.e. without mentioning the name '
cArvAka) in
NyAyakusumAnjali , Kha.n.danakha.n.dakhAdya etc and commentaries thereupon .
For example the following verse of
CArvAkas is refuted in
MahAbhA.sya and MImAmsA (S'AbarabhA.syam etc.) by offering the meaning of the .

DharmakIrti in NyAyabindu refutes the argument of
CArvAkas that 'vyApti' is not possible to accept and therefore there is no
AnumAna --
kAryakAra.nabhAvAdvA svabhAvAdvA niyAmakAt I
avinAbhAvaniyamo dars'anAnna nadars'anAt II
AvinAbhAva (vyApti) can be known thru either kAryakAra.nabhAva or tAdAtmya .
In 6th and 7th
Skandhas of BhAgavata the
CArvAkas / NAstikas are described as having '
vairabhakti'
All the
Astikadars'anas , including the commentaries are refutations of
CArvAka as they propose what was unacceptable to the rivals .
