Sorry for the cryptic nature of my notes. What I intended to convey has essentially been conveyed by Shri Sunil Bhattacharjya.
I expect the author of the clever riddle-like verse to exploit the associations that most readers of Sanskrit literature or most traditionally educated Hindus know. I do not expect him to go for uncommon literal/etymological (yaugika) meanings of words and high-level or sectarian-philosophical concepts.
He uses the word garbha in its most common senses 'inside' and 'what is contained inside.' What is inside the inside of a ;Samii tree is fire (that is why, ;Samii wood is preferred for the ara.nis). Water is the enemy of fire because it puts out fire. What formation exists inside that enemy (in the Milky Ocean, k.siira-saagara?
