I think it is best to consider that original statement in context. At
the time of the API's introduction, we wanted to assure the lenders
that the API being released would expose no data that, at the time,
was not available on public lender pages. In essence, we used the
lender page as a reference to help convey the set of data the API
would initially expose during a time when there was no concrete Kiva
API or documentation to which to point in order to otherwise help
explain this to people.
Kiva always reserves the right to modify the website or the API in so
much as it is in accordance with the privacy policy. Since new
features are often added to the Kiva website and the Kiva API
regularly over the course of a month, you might expect lender pages or
the Kiva API to change with new features or views of the data at any
time. It's certainly possible that a feature could show up in the API
before it shows up on the Kiva website. This has happened with
journal search, lender search, and loan search-by-country.
Specifically, considering the join_date of a lender for a team, this
is something we have considered incorporating into the site as we
build out more of the community features. However, your caution does
reinforce our own to do due diligence on policy conformance and user
sensitivities.
