Here's the summary.

Eleven people turned up at Spot Coffee on May 21 to discuss the future of the open meetings. We've scheduled a Wednesday evening meeting on June 12 at The Corner Bakery, 1551 Niagara Falls Blvd for 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We've scheduled a Tuesday morning meeting on June 25 at Buffalo Coworking, 225 Delaware Ave for 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Here are more details.

We concluded we'd try two separate meetups – one downtown at 8:00 AM and one in the suburbs at 6:00 PM with a two week interval between meetings. It won't quite be two meetups per month; some months will have three. We'll see if that becomes too confusing.

I will be at The Corner Bakery (http://www.cornerbakerycafe.com/Locations.aspx?zip=&city=Amherst&state=NY) by 6:00 on June 12. You can recognize me by my handsome head, largely unencumbered by ugly hair, and also by my serene maturity. I've never been to this place, but several others felt it would be a good spot. I will scope it out in advance. If you have any negative comments about this, please let me know. There appears to be an abundant menu. The folks who do show up are welcome to recommend alternative venues for future meetups.

Dan Gigante will make sure Buffalo Cowork (http://coworkbuffalo.com/) is open at 8:00 AM. The entrance is just south of Spot Coffee. Pick up whatever coffee, bagels, or breakfast at Spot or wherever you like before you come up.

Right this minute, there is still one bogus meetup on nextplex for May 28. The two Dans are going to work on getting rid of this. When I finish writing this, I will add a comment saying it's bogus. I will also add the first two of the new meetups to nextplex (http://nextplex.com/buffalo-ny) within the next couple days. I will also post to this group at appropriate times.

There was general agreement that we want to keep the free and open format that has prevailed in the past. There was also some thought that it might be good to have one or two discussion topics to get things started. I don't think anyone favored formal presentations. Accordingly, the nextplex postings will solicit topics of interest and we'll try to prioritize them.

Everyone who showed up did so because these meetings have been valuable in the past, the open format allows people to make new connections, renew old connections, develop new ideas and so on. Please try to be a part of it.

For the record, these people were present: Quin, Dan G., Lisa, yours truly, Jordan, Mike, Alex, Tony, Eric, Darin, Dan M.

Hope to see you soon. Reply to this post or mail me directly if you have anything to add.

It's great that you guys are keeping the marathon going, and I'm very happy that CoworkBuffalo is going to be a part of it. Keep on!

I'm looking forward to these :) I should be able to attend the one on the 12th without a problem - I'll try to attend the one on the 25th as well but that's my birthday :D
