Attn: 2009 Fish and Wildlife Merit Badge Attendees
Hello everyone!

Please disregard if your troop did not attend the 2009 Fish and Wildlife
Management Merit Badge a few weeks ago.

I believe there may have been a miscommunication about Requirement #5.
The boys have the following options to choose from:

5.   Do ONE of the following:

         1. Construct, erect, and check regularly at least two
artificial nest boxes (wood duck, bluebird, squirrel, etc.) and keep
records for one nesting season.
         2. Construct, erect, and check regularly bird feeders and keep
written records of the kinds of birds visiting the feeders in the winter.
         3. Design and implement a backyard wildlife habitat improvement
project and report the results.
         4. Design and construct a wildlife blind near a game trail,
waterhole, salt lick, bird feeder, or birdbath and take good photographs
or make sketches from the blind or any combination of 10 wild birds,
mammals, reptiles, or amphibians.

If they choose to do Requirement 5b, they need to observe the birds for
12 weeks.  We went over it in the conclusion and the bird log they took
home with them has this information in it.  But I have been receiving
many questions.  I had a newer counselor helping with that rotation and
it seems she was confused and told the boys 2 weeks by mistake.  I
apologize about the misunderstanding.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Melissa
