4-H Wildlife Stewards Educator Workshop

Invasive: Plants on the Move

 

When: February 25, 2012

 

Time: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

 

Where: Adams Elementary School – (Corvallis)

 

Cost: $25 OR *Free (*when you commit to  6 fun hours of volunteer payback. Teachers may use classroom time as payback if on the topic, others can choose from a selection of community projects)

Who should attend:  teachers, community educators, volunteers, agency staff, scout leaders, 4-H leaders, and others who work with youth in the outdoors or in service-learning

 

What you learn:

·         A watershed perspective on how invasive plants impact Oregon’s forests, prairies, wetlands, and agriculture

·         Plant identification as applied to common local invasive plants

·         Explore hands-on lessons including identification, inventory, and mapping.

·         How to engage students through service-learning projects using the Awareness to Action model
