Hi All,

UWE are running an uber meet on 19th May where developer groups from around Bristol will present to the students. I'm happy to do a 10 minute intro to BrisFunctional but they also want to know if anyone is interested in doing a longer 30 min tech talk. Any takers? We can discuss when we meet next Tuesday too.

BrisFunctional is this Tuesday? Sweet! I'll be there :-D

What kind of tech talks are they after? Introduction to FP or something? If so I may have some material that I use with Ruby people that might be of use.

As an aside, just on the way back from the ScalaDays conf which was really excellent - lots of functional goodness taking place, most excellent.

depending on what you mean by "tech talk" I've got one about robotics and education that people generally seem to enjoy..

Thanks

Yes, Tuesday 24th see you there!

Intro to FP would be perfect - was kind of hoping you would volunteer Tim ;)

I imagine that there's plenty from Scala Days that would be of
interest to the group? Neil Prosser from Nokia was there too so maybe
you could both do a quick summary of some of the ideas? Or maybe we
could watch some of the vids with a discussion afterwards?

Sam - they are looking for a talk that relates to our group so I'm not
sure this is what they are after. Happy to work with people to prepare
one... any volunteers?

Yep, sounds interesting. What time is the über meetup? I'm busy in the evening.

Sure, most of the videos are online already - there were a lot of awesome hardcore talks (macros, compiler internals, stackless programming with free monads etc), so it depends how "introductory" it needs to be or not.

Would be nice to do an introductory polygot talk on FP concepts. How techie are the folk going to be?

Cheers, Tim
