  You can rule out hardware failure possibly with a linux distro, try &lt;br&gt; puppy and unetbootin. For a quick test. &lt;br&gt; Though having said that, I have an annoying usb soundcard with a few &lt;br&gt; faults, and googling that today, unearthed similar issues for windows &lt;br&gt; users. &lt;br&gt; Perhaps try the classic, remove device add device trick.

  Don&#39;t know what your budget is (or what you would be charged for taking the &lt;br&gt; tapes to someone else to capture them), but you could consider hiring a Sony &lt;br&gt; J30 (or similar) tape deck and capture via firewire.   Morning all.... &lt;br&gt; Got a bit of a strange problem. &lt;br&gt; I built a PC for my mates birthday to replace his ailing E-Mac. &lt;br&gt; The Spec is &lt;br&gt; Microstar MS-6741 motherboard &lt;br&gt; 1.5GB RAM &lt;br&gt; Athlon AMD 3200 CPU &lt;br&gt; Windows 7 (RC-Build 7100) &lt;br&gt; The problem I have is that theres no audio. I have installed the RealTek &lt;br&gt; AC97 driver, as this seems to be the one, and there is a level on the mixer.
