[BNM] 1and1.com - good or bad?

I'm about to plump for a 1&1 Root Server II from them, but before I
do, any horror stories, or should it be a smooth ride?

I'll answer my own query "Please note: The services at 1and1.com are
only available to residents of the U.S. and Canada. Residents of the
U.K. can join at http://1and1.co.uk."
Thanks for that 1and1 so surely the pricing will also be comparative?
So $169 = £95, so for the same product priced in the UK? Oh look, it's
£129 + VAT. Screw that.

Jay,
try EasySpeedy [1]. Iused them last year for a few months and the service
was great. The best thing is if you totaly screw up the machine you can get
it resinstalled throught their control panel software in about an hour and
start again.
Tech support were helpful and speedy to reply to emails and even their
billing dept was great. In fact they are probably the best host I have used
yet. Based in denmark though if thats an issue.

recommendation of a month or so ago, for serverbeach.com
I've got a Power 2600 on an unlimited bandwidth plan.

Weird, Serverbeach.com came recommended from somewhere, but I note
that I start the post with them and you don't weigh with ev1 until
much later. Oh well, I guess the proof will be in the pudding :)

I know the original discussion has been and gone, but I was a bit puzzled by
the "our website goes down about 5 times a day" comment.
I've used 1&1 (that's the same as 1and1, UK contact in Slough???) for 3
years, maybe checking the site or updating once a day -- but much more over
the last year -- and I can only remember the site being down once...
