I only skimmed through... looks cool, and the pricing seams very
reasonable... is it a scam/joke?

I've had a read too - I've done some work in industrial injection
moulding & it all looks feasible & believeable - the potential
drawbacks that I can see are:
Machining moulds is not straightforward or cheap
It's only going to cope with moulding small, low volume items
It's going to be have a fairly high cycle time - don't dream up
something where you want 1000s made

but quite a fun tool - and I like the idea of some of the different
plastics you can use.

I also might be a bit concerned with the pressure needed to force the
plastic in - hopefully it's be quite low, but a drill press isn't
designed to exert huge pressure is it?

My first thought was that it was using the drill stand simply as an arm
to go up and down which seemed a bit inefficient (and also unlikely to
get the pressure required for "proper" injection moulding) so I guessed
that maybe the actual drill was used somewhere to turn something and
ramp up the pressure? I don't really know and the video isn't very clear
about how it works - my guess is that once it's obvious how it works,
something similar could be "hacked together" for a fraction of the price!

I've a powerful but slow CNC machine which can mill (mild) steel (I set
the router bit too low it and carved a lovely guitar shape out of the
cutting bed) Steve and Matt have put together an awesome, fast, CNC
framework that just needs a bit of time to finish off. So with plenty of
lubrication and multiple passes, making a mould from a block of
something like aluminium isn't unfeasible.

Moving off the original topic of "is this injection moulding machine for
real" and into "here's something interesting about injection moulding:
http://www.castcraft.com/injection-molding-machine-images.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobby_injection_molding

The last link on this page sounds interesting - use a 3d printer to make
a mould....
