I have removed the two black plastic bags  near the worktop which I assume
are rubbish.
If not let me know ASAP!

In the kitchen? One was black, the other green.  If so, yes they are rubbish.

Yes, now  I see one is green, one is black. Do either of them contain
material 4 recycling?

Green one is just rubbish.

Not sure what's in the black one, guessing just rubbish too.

AFAIK only types 1 + 2 are recyclable in Brighton -- PET (type-1) mostly.

B&H council only accept 'plastic bottles' iirc.

Weird... I live on Brighton Seafront and the council provided my street
with cardboard bins, plastic bins, glass bins, tin bins and general refuse
bins...

It'll be whatever the public recycling bins at B&Q / Sainsburys accept, as
that's where we get rid of the recycling (we don't get our recycling
collected by the council as we're not residential premises).

"Plastic bottles are the only plastics that Brighton & Hove and the
majority of local authorities currently recycle. Plastic bottles are mainly
made from PET (soft drinks and water bottles) and HDPE (milk and detergent
bottles). There are already markets for plastic bottles as these can be
recycled back into bottles or even fleeces!" -

The other private recycling places in Brighton take anything marked 1 or 5
iirc. Annoyingly it all goes to the same recycling plant.
