Hi All,

Can anyone save me time and suggest the best physics engine to use in Xcode for iPad/iPhone project. I am really looking for some libraries that makes it easy to assign physics to ImageViews etc and not a complete games engine platform like Unity3d.

My research seems to indicate that Cocos2d with it's built in support for Box2d and Chipmunk might be the way to go, but it seems like a lot of extra stuff to include in a project when I just needs some basic physics like 'bounce', 'springs', 'gravity',' inertia'

Thanks in advance :)
Bob

I would go with Cocos2d, but you could also check out Corona, there was a demo at Update2011

Problem is you need to buy the SDK

also don't forget you don't NEED to use Cocos2D to use Box2D ... here's a tutorial on using it with standard UIViews : http://www.cocoanetics.com/2010/05/physics-101-uikit-app-with-box2d-for-gravity/

Good luck.

I was going to suggest Box2d on its own. I find Cocos2d to be
overkill, and yet under-powered for the big stuff ("if you're going
down that route ... why not use Unity?")

+1 for just box2d (or chipmunk) - invaluable to have a solid understanding of these physics engine before using them in a higher level engine?

Though cocos2d is probably one the better engine options due to its open source-ness :)

oh! I did that! :)

I enjoyed playing with Corona and if it does everything you need it
to, it's insanely easy and fast. But if you need to add more native
stuff it's a bit limited.

Dear All,

Can anyone recommend a list of 'must have' review sites for submitting Apps too?

I have been working on a set of Interactive Children Story Books and we are aiming to have it available for Christmas. So is it possible to submit App's to these sites BEFORE being available on iTunes? (As a email download via the Ad-Hoc method)

Thanks in advance
Bob
