Isn't that the tip that's shipping on the B3? It seems a lot like the
old one-hole, except the taper would allow you to entrain air more
easily I think. They're proud of it at $30 though!

I tried to get a tip that was supposed to be similar to this from WLL
about two years ago. They described it as the new latte art steaming
tip. After ordering it I was informed that it was on backorder, and it
would ship as soon as they had it. They went ahead and charged my
credit card and I eventually forgot about it. Then, about 6 months
later, a tip showed up that was identical to the one that came on my
machine two years earlier. That was the last time I gave them any of
my business.

There are a few tips out there that I'd like to play with but if you don't
want to try a bunch of experimentation and it's just good milk you are
looking for there have been some really solid threads on the subject in the
archinves (quite a lot of work done by Ben) and the recommendations made at
that time are good in my opinion. As long as you go with a recommended tip,
and practice, you can pour some fantastic microfoam with the Brewtus. I pour
great milk every single day. Here's an example of a four ounce beverage I
had a few days ago in my own kitchen:

Sigh. Shaun always makes me feel like the Grasshopper. I can pour a
really nice 6 ounce latte, but I only aspire to something that small.
Anyway. I use the 2-hole isomac (small holes) and Shaun uses the 2- hole Gold Pro. They are nearly identical, and make excellent foam for
anything latte size or smaller (Italian latte, not American swimming
pool latte). The stock one-hole does a nice job, but as you said,
takes a bit more "hand".
Search on "tip experiment" and you'll find a lot of info.

Nice international border symmetry! The reason that I was looking at
this tip in the first place is that 1st-Line (Gold Pro) will not ship
to Canada. I will look for the 2-hole Isomac.

Has anyone tried changing the whole steam arm on the Brewtus?
Was wondering if this is perhaps the reason for slower steam performance on
the Brewtus than some of it's competitors. Would make sense considering that
the cool wand is lined with a plastic pipe which I would imagine is a lot
more restrictive than the larger diameter steel pipe found in the "hot"
steam arms.

Yes, that tip is the right idea. I have the one in the link below,
but unfortunately the holes are bigger than advertised and too large
for good performance on the B2. It's not bad, but not the "perfect"
tip. So far the 2-hole isomac is my daily driver, and the one-hole
Brewtus is a close second.

I just ordered the 2 hole Isomac and the 4-small-hole Vivaldi from
Chris' Coffee. Loking forward to trying both, but I'd still like to
get one of the single hole tapered body tips linked by the original
poster. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks Dennis, I'll give them another try. Hopefully I won't end up
with another one of the standard factory tips. That's what they sent
me last time. Has anybody else ordered this pointy snout tip from WLL?

Why don't you contact Todd and see whether you could exchange the one
that was shipped mistakenly? I am relatively certain he'd make it
right for you.

Hello, I'm sorry about the confusion in regards to the steam tips. For that reason I have put together a PDF file that shows the current steam tip that is coming with the machines and is the one that we stock. I have found this one to work very well. The size of the hole and design allows you to accuratly control how much air you inject into the milk. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks very much.

Bobcat, check with Chris , but I think the Vivaldi 4 hole tip is a different
thread, and their adapter won't work . I am going to try out a tip from
Taiwan that is modeled after the Isomac, but with three small holes.
However, I only steam about 4 oz milk, so a bigger tip might be too frisky
for that - just playing. So far, my fav is the Gold Pro 2 hole.

Ben, I wish you would have tried the gold pro out. I remember there was a
problem with ordering just that part -minimun cost- wise.
I kind of prefer the GP for injecting air - the holes are situated
differently with different angles from the Isomac. It seems a little faster,
but not too frisky.
For me, it is tricker to wipe off, though. - Dennis

Yeah, one day I might get past the "pay a fee to be a customer" thing
and order a Gold Pro. Or have someone else order for me so I can try
it out and add it to the database.

Did you by chance mean the "new .9mm 4-hole tip" from Chris? If so,
it does indeed have a different thread, but you can use a wrench on it
the first time, and then it will go in and out by hand thereafter. This does not change the fit of any other tips into the wand, and the
adapter still goes in and out easily as well for other tips.
However, as mentioned in my original thread on tips, the 4 holes are
quite a bit larger than .9mm. I measure them as a very loose 1.143mm,
and a snug 1.219mm (these are the combinations of feeler gauges I have
available). So I'd call them 1.2mm. This may seem insignificant, but
the difference really noticeable.
At .9mm, the holes have a total area of 2.54mm^2
At 1.2mm, the holes have a total area of 4.52mm^2
This is 177% of the .9 size. If you reference my original thread,
you'll see why this is too much hole for the machine to handle on a
sustained basis, although it's not bad for a single drink. I just
found the holes to be too big for really nice foam.
Whoever asked, the hole size on the original B2 tip is a loose 1.448
on mine, call it 1.5mm.
At 1.5mm, the area is 1.77mm^2
Notice above that the 4-hole tip in question is more than double this
size in terms of hole area, and you will quickly see why it lives in
my drawer, and not on my machine.
This gives you a really good starting point for what the machine can
handle on a sustained basis. Larger than about 2mm^2 will steam
really fast, but will deplete and overwhelm the boiler. Less than
about 1.5mm^2 will be really slow. Dividing up the area over smaller
holes will be slower but tighter foam. Larger holes will be faster
but harder to get good foam. The original tip is a good compromise
between the two, and the new tapered tip may well be an even better
compromise.
Take care,
bmc

Ben, Look at Chris' website regarding the Vivaldi steam tip. It states the
original, bigger 4 hole tip has 1.2 mm holes. I think they supplied you
with the wrong one. - Dennis

Did you by chance mean the "new .9mm 4-hole tip" from Chris? If so, it does
indeed have a different thread, but you can use a wrench on it
the first time, and then it will go in and out by hand thereafter. This does not change the fit of any other tips into the wand, and the
adapter still goes in and out easily as well for other tips.
However, as mentioned in my original thread on tips, the 4 holes are quite a
bit larger than .9mm. I measure them as a very loose 1.143mm, and a snug
1.219mm (these are the combinations of feeler gauges I have available). So
I'd call them 1.2mm. This may seem insignificant, but the difference really
noticeable.
At .9mm, the holes have a total area of 2.54mm^2 At 1.2mm, the holes have a
total area of 4.52mm^2
This is 177% of the .9 size. If you reference my original thread, you'll
see why this is too much hole for the machine to handle on a sustained
basis, although it's not bad for a single drink. I just found the holes to
be too big for really nice foam.
Whoever asked, the hole size on the original B2 tip is a loose 1.448 on
mine, call it 1.5mm.
At 1.5mm, the area is 1.77mm^2
Notice above that the 4-hole tip in question is more than double this size
in terms of hole area, and you will quickly see why it lives in my drawer,
and not on my machine.
This gives you a really good starting point for what the machine can handle
on a sustained basis. Larger than about 2mm^2 will steam really fast, but
will deplete and overwhelm the boiler. Less than about 1.5mm^2 will be
really slow. Dividing up the area over smaller holes will be slower but
tighter foam. Larger holes will be faster but harder to get good foam. The
original tip is a good compromise between the two, and the new tapered tip
may well be an even better compromise.
Take care,

Thanks Dennis,
I've wondered about that also--the photo says 1.2, the text says 1.3. But, my tip is clearly the one on the right, based on the relative
size of the holes to the tip, and the flat milled on the bottom of the
tip, between the four holes. I think the original is far larger than
1.2, and the .9 is actually the one I have at 1.2. I just think the
spec and the product don't match.
