Eugene, OR- The nonprofit organization Daisy C.H.A.I.N. Creating Healthy Alliances In New-Mothering announces their return of $605 donation. On Wednesday May 1, 2013 co-founders were thrilled to see a large donation made through the organization's GOFUNDME site. Daisy C.H.A.I.N. Creating Healthy Alliances In New-Mothering provides the community with research and evidence- based education and support services for new-mothers and their families because all women deserve access to breastfeeding support and doula care from qualified members of their community. All services are free to clients.
Despite the organization's status as a new nonprofit still in the initial stages of securing sustainable funding and run by mothers volunteering their time and service, the Board of Directors will be refunding the $605 donation today.
The organization deeply appreciates the generosity and support of all its donors, and values every donation received. However, to keep in line with guiding values and goals, funding cannot be accepted from businesses or business leaders who are associated with current or past violations of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes, however loose or distant those associations maybe.
“Daisy C.H.A.I.N. Creating Healthy Alliances In New-Mothering values human rights, as well as human milk for human babies. Of course we are disappointed to return the generous donation, but our organization is a member of the global non-profit community and we must mindfully move forward as our strategic plan outlines, while providing strong leadership to protect, promote and support breastfeeding,” said Jaclyn Mahoney, co-founder.
The organization believes the community supports the important work they are doing, as evident in their alliances with the Breastfeeding Coalition of Lane County, Sacred Waters Community Birth Center, Prevention Lane/Breastfeeding Lane. Daisy C.H.A.I.N. Creating Healthy Alliances In New-Mothering is confident that generous donations from businesses and individuals will continue to be provided in order to help support and further their mission, vision and values.
