I'm interested in memory. I want to know more about it and I also want to find ways to improve it. Can anyone help me with that?

For a good book on improving your memory I would recommend Kenneth Higbee's Your Memory: How it works and how to improve it

For your second question, check Gwern's FAQ.

For ways to improve it you could research:

Mnemonics- A proven system of mental association techniques. Most
memory competitors use mnemonics as it is GREAT for remembering
information.

Eidetic Memory Training- Never did much research into this but Eidetic
memory is photographic memory. Some claim you can train yourself to
pure photographic level.

My personal favorite, simply try remembering. My biggest block for
years was that I gave up trying almost as soon as I started. "What did
I do last monday? Ah hell I'll never remember that... My memory sucks"
once I actually sat down and started trying I found within a minute or
two I COULD remember what I had for lunch two Mondays ago. The more I
tried this the easier and faster the answers came. I think it was a
mental block more than anything.

You can also try memory games. There's a bunch of free ones out there
just google 'Free memory games' and you'll find a bunch. N-back is
probably the best out of those, but also the most boring. Also most
games target short term memory, not long term. This will aid in
transferring new information to long term, but not much good for
pulling up information that predates training.
