Task switching game that can improve intelligence? Can it be downloaded?

Recently I decided to look at other games outside of n-back that may
improve intelligence. Jaeggi and Buschkuehl's paper describes a game
that is similar to many commercial brain training games, and thus it
may be available to the public:

"Task A required a category response
towards a presented picture (e.g., is the picture
a tree or a flower), and Task B required an
attribute judgment (e.g., size or color) towards a
presented picture."

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate a game that is nearly
identical to this one. The closest one is the Stroop test. Does
anyone know if this game is available for download? If not, a game
that is close?

Thanks!

Hopefully they will get their website up soon. Does anyone have any
other links they would like to share?

Luminosity also has one called brainshift. There used to be a free
demo but I think they've taken it down.

Since it is generally considered that executive functioning plays a
strong role in intelligence, I wonder how a combination of WM training
and executive training would result in.

I recently made a task-switching Flash game, available at
http://workingmemoryworkout.blogspot.com/2010/06/logical-comparisons.html

It has you process a true/false statement based on different semantics
across 6 dimensions (color, shape, size, number, speed, direction),
and is otherwise a 1-back comparison game. Comments are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at it tonight.

While training on task switching I noticed an immediate problem; I
improved too quickly. Using this test as a measure of executive
function, my first task switching game I actually scored below average
on the measure of EF. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/06/07/technology/20100607-task-switching-demo.html

However, training has produced an immediate positive effect. After
training, an hour later I played the flash feature again, and I scored
well above average. Is it really reasonable that I improved my
executive functioning in an hour?

The literature claims that training provides benefits to other far-
reaching measures of task switching. But most measures are similar in
function, and I wonder if task switching testing is just a skill one
can improve on, without any true benefit in the outside world. In
other words, the initial measure is an accurate measure of executive
function, but once trained it loses its predictive value because one
is only developing a skill to perform better at the test.

Hello Ryan.

I can't seem to get the game to work. All I have is a blank white
screen where the game should play.

jttoto,

Do you have Flash player installed? You can check at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If that doesn't solve the problem, try this direct link --

Hello Ryan. I used Firefox instead and that seemed to have solved the
problem. I must say that this is far more complex than the game
described in Jaeggi's literature review, and there is a WM component
as well. If this doesn't train task-switching and EF I don't know
what will.
