Hello Boxsters,

It is the second Monday in February, 2026 and time for a new Free Download.

This weeks FD comes from the recently recovered files that Christian left behind.

I came across and restored one he had in his OR directory.

It is the original wrap from Revell that was adhered to the box that contained the 1953 release of the 1/56 scale kit of the Chris Craft Flying Bridge Cruiser boat.

Chris Craft was the gold standard for personal water craft for many years.

Their original boats were all made from wood, usually mahogany and teak, until the mid 1950s when they changed over to fiberglass.

In later years they made their boats from metal.

I selected a half dozen Chris Craft images for your enjoyment.

The Chris Craft factory was in Algonac, Michigan.  We lived in Algonac (Clay Township) from 1995-2001 and the house we had purchased was originally built on land that was bought and turned into a public boat launch on the North Channel in Algonac.  When the waterfront property was turned into the boat launch, shortly before we moved there, the house was bought by a developer who had it physically moved to a lot a few hundred yard away inland on the opposite side of M-25 where we purchased it in the summer of 1995.  All of the trim work in the entire house and the staircase going to the second floor were made from Mahogony from the old Chris Craft plant.  In 2001, a developer wanted to buy the property our house sat on as part of the shopping center that went in and where our house was became one of the entries to the shopping plaza.  The timing worked out as I had just been promoted and we wanted to move closer to where my new job assignment was.  The house was moved again and still exists today a mile or two on another lot in Clay Township.  When we originally bought it the building inspector said we had the best of the old house along with the new upgrades.  Having all that beautiful Mahogony in the house and knowing where it had come from made it special along with living in the River District.

Chris Craft had a production facility in Orlando, FL waaaaay back in the 50s 60s.  We used to drive by it on the way home.
