Hi Everyone,

With all the cloud storage technologies available I was wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences on which ones work well for their needs for their PC's/Macs as wells as their Smartphones(iphone, Android, etc).

I know that many smartphones come with free services from the carrier (VZW for example) and I've used them all but but I am looking to find one of the other cross-platform one's that work seamlessly and do not make you jump through hoops with extensive configurations to get it up and running effectively and efficiently.

I also would like to know about any experiences with 3rd party apps that integrate via the storage API's such as many smartphone apps use.
For example, BackDrop is a Android backup app up that uses Dropbox for storage and many of the cloud printing apps have API's available for the various cloud storage services.

Given that cloud storage itself is now a commodity service, with every service almost mimicking themselves in cost and features, I wanted to hear from my "peers in the technology trenches" on what works the best for their needs.

I currently use google drive, box.net, dropbox and when I'm actually using a stock Android ROM, the Verizon services.  Although I use them without issue, they all do things just a wee bit differently so managing them is a little bit of a hassle which detracts from the 'Cloud' experience.

So everyone, help me get to a better Cloud with the side benefit  that we all may learn learn something new along the way..

:-)

Thanks!!

Rich

I use Dropbox and Evernote. Mostly Evernote.

Depends on what you want, though. I use Dropbox when I want it to
integrate with 3rd party apps (as you mentioned below). I use Evernote
for...everything else, pretty much.

If you care about security and/or privacy (anything in the cloud
services so far can be viewed by employees of the services in question),
you might also consider SpiderOak.

https://spideroak.com/

Like Dropbox, only the data is encrypted on their servers. Just don't
lose your password, because they can't get your data back without it.
That's the point.

this is kinda related, does anyone have a replacement to google cloud connect for skydrive or google drive?  I used to use cloud connect but google doesn't support it anymore.  it is an add on to office, that automatically uploads word docs to drive when you save them.  i need a replacement to it to backup my school docs.

I would just use google docs, you can download it and use it offline and it automatically saves locally and on to google drive with every change!
I have never lost a document(or even small changes) on it, so I use it for school!

Google drive (docs) has worked pretty well for me too.

I like Evernote for my personal notes but have had some issues with it, I mostly use it on my Mac but the other day I went to view it on my iphone and it wouldn't pull up my recent notes. Then it looked like it deleted a huge chunk of one of my existing notes on my Mac - it later reappeared, but did not make me happy. I tried briefly to persuade it to work correctly but still having hangups. I haven't heard of others having these issues, so maybe there's something funny with my configuration or something. I might convert to dropbox or something as an alternative.
