To all the Boston Spurs,
I have been in contact with the Spurs Membership office and have been
provided with the following information.
I have the terms and conditions for supporters' club branches. There
are two options:
1. Supporters' Club Satellite Branch
2. Supporters' Club Branch
The difference between the two is simple. In order to be recognized
as a Supporters' Club Satellite branch (#1) we must have a minimum of
5 branch members and pay a yearly fee amount of approximately $42.00.
The Supporters' Club branch (#2) requires that we have a minimum of 25
branch members and pay a yearly fee of approximately $82.00. The only
other difference is that the Supporters' Club branch (#2) has a larger
allocation of tickets to Spurs home games that would be set aside for
us. Unless we can commit to 10 tickets for each home game this option
would not apply to us.
Therefore, it is my opinion that in establishing the Boston Spurs as
an official club we should choose the Supporters' Club Satellite
branch. So, I need some responses from all of you Spurs fans who
would like to be a part of the first ever official Boston Spurs club.
I would like to forward the documentation to the Spurs as soon as
possible. My thinking is that once I receive enough committments to
meet the minimum requirement we could meet before I send the signed
documentation back to the Spurs. The Spurs need our support more than
ever. Harry has them on the move and this could be the year for great
things at White Hart Lane. Let's be a part of it all. So, spread the
word. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks Dick.
The only thing that I got from Anthony were copies of the original
emails he received from Spurs. He also sent me the Preliminary Terms
and Conditions of Boston Spurs that he wrote up, sort of like a
charter for the group. This form has to be changed somewhat but
nothing major. So, that's all I have. I contacted Spurs and have
been in touch with someone from their office who sent me the updated
Spurs Supporters info. Anyway. A side note. I'm very new to this
group so I don't want to step on any toes. I know a lot of you have
been involved for awhile. I'm just really passionate for the Spurs.
I contacted someone who I know is a Spurs fan, actually played for the
Lady Spurs, to she is she is still around and would be interested.
It's still early days but I'm eager to get things started. Talk to
you soon.

In speaking for just me, bur probably echoing others' feelings, Anthony created the group, but none of us were ready to take up the cause. IMO, no stepping on toes has happened.

I just went back and looked at old emails (I'm a pack rat). I had references, on headed stationery, sent to Anthony Daigle. He needed them to assemble a "Board" for the club. If they are lost, I'll do it again, if necessary.
Perhaps we should have an organizational gathering?
Dick.

I think that having a gathering would be very good at this time. As
Steve suggests, we should also use google docs to share info that we
put together so all can have access to at any time. Any further
thoughts? Are there any suggestions on where we should have our first
meeting? I have no problem traveling in or around the Boston area.

And, I'm in Newburyport. And, will be out of town the rest of this week. Next week isn't great, either. But, if you pick a couple of dates, I'm sure I can make one. Being semi-retired, I'm usually quite flexible, but the next couple of weeks are unusual.

I'm okay waiting for Dick to be able to attend. If the rest of us
wanted to get together for a pint in the meantime, that would be okay
too. The more important issue would be to find a place to meet that
is fair for everyone. I know of some good pubs downtown (Brookline,
Cambridge, etc.) but that's it. I'm open for suggestions and, really,
it would be no problem to travel. We are all coming from different
directions around the hub so it will be tricky. But distance should
not dull our efforts to finish that which was started in 2006. Steve,
I'm not familiar with the google docs stuff and it would be great if
you could store everything until we get up and running. Back to work.

We've got another guy here in Burlington who'd likely be interested,
one in Beverly, one in Peabody and one in Waltham. I will determine
their level of interest and let you know

One thing I was told last year is that some number of members need to be Spurs members. This has cost me $30-40 per year as a Senior. You can get all the details on their web site.

Natick or Framingham is fine with me. According to the Terms and
Conditions for the Supporters's Club Satellite we need to have at
least one Committee Meeting every two months. So, in thinking about
the bigger picture and the potential for a broader Spurs supporters
club Natick or Framingham does sound like an ideal area. I really
would like everyone's input on this. I'm coming from the south shore
and I've contacted someone who lives on the cape. I know Dick lives
in Newburyport. My initial thoughts would be to reach out to a local
pub in that area that would be able to support our group and who would
commit to broadcasting the Spurs when possible. Steve, would this be
something that you could find out for the group? I imagine that we
might end up with a number of spots that we get together but it would
be nice to call one pub "our pub". Check out the nyspurs.com site.
They use one pub as their "home" pub. Dick, I have sent an email to
my contact at the Spurs and she is out of the office until wednesday.
According to the documents that I received there is no mention that we
need anything additional except when it comes to tickets. I'll await
her response and let you know.
