Subject: BFAIG Meeting - Michael Labriola wants to help *You* :)
Hi All,

I've been thinking for a while that I should mention Boston's other
Flex group on this list, and this Monday's meeting presents the ideal
opportunity.

What's BFAIG?

I'll try to keep this description of the group short. You can find
lots of details at http://www.bfaig.org. In a nutshell, BFAIG attempts
to reverse the standard user group paradigm. Instead of having an
expert presenter dispensing knowledge and wisdom to a (hopefully)
grateful audience, BFAIG has "learner-presenters" who are seeking
feedback and/or problem solving from other attendees. In practice, we
also do a fair amount of show and tell but our priority is on helping
budding (or even more experienced) programmers.

We meet online every Monday evening at 7:00 PM. Once a month, on the
first Monday of each month, we also have an in-person aspect of the
meeting, at the Massachusetts College Of Art. You can find more
details about attending at http://bfaig.org/attending_bfaig.html. I'll
be officially announcing next Monday's in-person/online meeting on our
blog (http://www.bfaig.org/blog/) by Sunday. You can also sign up for
our mailing list at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/BFAIG/.

When possible, we bring in Mentors - individuals with substantial Flex
experience - to act as resources for our learner-presenters, which
brings me to my next heading...

This Monday, Michael Labriola!

This Monday, Michael Labriola will be joining us in person at MassArt.
Michael is one of the authors of Adobe Flex 2: Training From The
Source, Adobe Flex 3: Training From The Source, and the upcoming
Breaking Out Of The Web Browser With Adobe AIR. He's also an Adobe
Certified Instructor, Community Expert, and Flex Community Champion.
He's already attended a few BFAIG meetings online and I can attest to
the fact that he's an awesome resource. You can find out more about
him at http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/members/MichaelLabriola.html.

Need Help?

We still have a couple of learner-presenter slots open for this
Monday's meeting. Typically, we have between 2 and 4 presentations
during each two-hour meeting. This is an opportunity for you to get
some truly expert input or assistance regarding something you're
working on. If you think that you might like to present this Monday
and get Michael's input you can contact me via the form at
http://bfaig.org/contact.html or by calling my cell phone at
617.407.3755.

Wait, There's More!

We'll also be raffling off an Adobe Software Package of your choice,
up to $2100 in value. Details at http://www.abug.us/blog/?p=4. And
we'll be giving away seven lovely books from O'Reilly Publishing on
Flex, ActionScript, and OOP.

We hope to see you there, either in person or online. If you'd like to
present, please contact me.

Thanks,

Douglas
