User Experience Design Lead at Sandia in Albuquerque, NM

are searching for a User
Experience Design Lead for the User Experience Department at the
Albuquerque facility. The
salary is commensurate. A benefit and relocation package is available.
Must be able to obtain
and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.

Apply strategic thinking to deliver elegant end-to-end user experience
solutions for enterprise
and scientific applications with a focus on user needs and business
goals. Deliver all aspects of
design from definition of customer and user needs to creation of
design concepts and prototypes
to delivering detailed designs and documenting those designs in
specifications. Use facilitative
leadership skills to drive to the best results. Contribute to a
strategic vision and roadmap
integrating UX as a key component of the labs successes. Excellent
command of user experience
methods, design principles, problem-framing skills, and verbal and
written communication skills.
Work collaboratively to define an effective user-centered process and
integrate that process
into development life cycle. Design and define common re-usable
components for our web-
based applications including templates, design patterns, controls, and
guidelines. Mentor less-
experienced designers while teaching others about UX. Stay current
with new technologies and
industry trends.

BS in an appropriate discipline such as product/interaction design,
HCI, or graphic design with
10 years experience creating useful and usable web-based applications
is required. A broad range
of design experience including enterprise, business, and consumer
applications with experience
in a large software development company. Expertise with design tools,
such as Photoshop,
Illustrator, Dreamweaver and user-centered design processes as applied
in multiple development
environments. Significant experience and knowledge of web-based
technologies especially rich
internet applications. Hands-on knowledge of Flex, Ajax, Flash, DHTML,
CSS, scripting, and
various other technologies. Proficient in a variety of methods to
convey ideas and concepts (e.g.
wireframes, prototypes, etc). An effective communicator, presenter,
and negotiator is required.
Have a strong portfolio available for viewing that illustrates your
design skills as well as your
passions for the user and your profession.

MS in interaction design is strongly preferred. Experience in
information architecture, web
design, graphic design with a sensitivity for visual design issues in
software applications and
designing mobile/handheld devices would be a plus.
