Hi Mike,

I don't know if you received any responses to your post so I thought
I would chime in. Frank,Hi, I am new to the group. I live in Quincy and just bought a practice set of pipes. I bought them on ebay, but had my family in Ireland guide me somewhat. Anyways, I got a noise out of them, like a goose, but havnt been able to get a sound since then. Is there anyplace around here where I could get lessons. These things are a little more complicated than the tin whistle, and are only a practice set.Mike Slade

 Hi John (Sullivan),
You're very welcome to the Boston Uilleann Pipers' Group. Glad to hear
you're getting lessons at CCÉ - you'll know Matt Leipert and Patrick
Hutchinson from there, and you'll find them in here too, though they're
pretty quiet. I'm afraid things have been very quiet lately, so don't be

 Hi pipers,
Thought you might find these two events interesting: one's a discussion of
Irish music traditions, the other's a free concert at Berklee, starring
Oisín McCauley and Berklee faculty and students.
You can read more details by following the links at the bottom of this
message. Enjoy!
-Frank

Just had a call from Kevin O'Brien, letting me know that although Brian
O'Donovan is NOT organizing the ICONS festival at the Irish Cultural Center
in Canton this year, there WILL be an Irish festival there. No big names
like the ICONS festival, just (mostly) local bands, but it will run the
usual two days. They're looking for some pipers, to do a one-hour

Thanks for that Johnny. I'd like to point out that Ross Anderson's site
(there's a link on the front page of the Sean Reid Society's page) has links
to a whole bunch of old (I mean really OLD) recordings of pipers. Here's a
direct link, just scroll down till you find the 'Irish music recordings'
