rails based wikis besides instiki?
Hey guys, Does anyone know of any other rails based wikis out there besides instiki? Do you guys use instiki in-house, or have you opted for the larger name PHP wiki software? I'm looking to start a wiki based project, and wondering if I should just go with instiki so I can 'add-on' custom bits, or just get a PHP... more »

Hackfest, July 29 - mod_rails preference pane (RubyCocoa)
Hey folks, The next hackfest is going to be a very cool one. It's two weeks before the next Boston.rb meeting because the thoughtbot office won't be available to host on August 5th and we were able to get a special guest for July 29th. We're going to have Eloy Duran of Fingertips ([link])... more »

Morning boys & girls! Feeling refreshed from a week off Ruby events? Rev your engines because it's hackfest night tonight! Per Dev's suggestion, we're thinking about hacking upon, within, and around factory_girl ([link]). I've also got validations ([link], [link], and [link])... more »

ways to track error/exception emails?
Is there any software (in the Ruby world or elsewhere) for tracking error/exception emails sent from your app? Suppose, right now, I get emails each time an exception happens. I would ideally track down and fix any exception immediately, but: - I don't always have enough proof into the cause of the exception. I... more »

Responding to actions differently based on caller/context?
I'm working on an application in which one can edit objects both from a summary of the object in a collection of the objects and also from a details page for the edit. In both cases, the edit of the associated model happens in a form rendered pop-up like in a div. The rub is that I want the update action to respond differently based... more »

freezing rails to a specific version
Folks: I'm trying to freeze my Rails app to a particular version. The usual way to do this is: rake rails:freeze:gems If I understand this correctly, this will freeze my rails install, but to the highest version installed on my development machine. The problem is that while I have 1.2.5, 2.0, and 2.1 on my development machine, I... more »

July 22nd Hackfest
Normally, we would have the hackfest on the Tuesday following the group meeting, but this month, it conflicts with the Web Innovators Group. July is also fortunate to be one of those weird months with 5 Tuesdays. As a result, we're pushing it back a week. * Food, beverages, wireless provided by thoughtbot.... more »

Hey folks, The next Web Innovators Group is this Tuesday, July 15th in Cambridge ([link]), which a number of Boston Rubyists want to attend. So, we're going to move the next hackfest to July 22nd: [link] Someone told me last week they had an idea for hackfest. So, please... more »
