Calling all developers, designers, and open data advocates! We thought
you might be interested to know that the Massachusetts Executive
Office of Transportation (EOT), which runs the highways, commuter
rails, MBTA, waterways, and regional transit authorities in the state
of Massachusetts, is having its first-ever (and free) Developers
Conference at MIT on Saturday, November 14.
The EOT is also coordinating two contests--application and
visualization--using transit data. Information about the contests and
the actual released transit data can be found here:
http://www.eot.state.ma.us/default.asp?pgid=content/developer&s...
The EOT is releasing transit data to the public (including MBTA
schedules) in an attempt to be more transparent and accountable. You
can read more about open government and the Gov 2.0 movement on Radar,
including Tim O'Reilly's ideas here:

Conference information: Saturday November 14
MIT Tang Center (Building E51)
70 Memorial Drive
Cambridge, MA
Cost: Free

The conference will include plenary sessions featuring speakers from
the transportation and technology community, and breakout sessions,
where developers can meet to discuss EOT's data and what applications
they are working on. The conference will also include training
sessions for the Regional Transit Authorities, which provide transit
services outside of Greater Boston, to help those agencies maintain
their data in open and available formats on the Developers Page. You
