This month's meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at
Sermo, 215 First Ave, Cambridge on the 4th floor. The meeting runs
from 7 to 9pm, but you can arrive after 6:30.

## Agenda

This month, we have the Rails Envy team, Gregg Pollack and Jason
Seifer, joining us.

Gregg will be presenting "Scaling Rails", which goes through you
need to know about Scaling your Rails app, including using memcached,
advanced cache expiration, and client-side caching.

Jason will be presenting "Unobtrusive Javascript".

Afterwards, the floor is open for announcements, job postings,
and lightning talks.

## Special Thanks

Many thanks go out to:

* Sermo for providing the venue, food, and drinks
* Engine Yard for donating a slice for hosting bostonrb.org
* Peepcode for providing videos, and Pearson and The
Pragmatic Bookshelf for providing books.

There's been a change in plans for the topic:

Gregg and Jason will be presenting "Innovation in Rails". In order to stay competitive, every Rails developer should keep up to date with the latest tools to write better ruby code and produce better websites. In this talk the Rails Envy guys will attempt to sum up a year of Rails innovation in 60 minutes, covering 20 of the most useful, ingenious, and innovative new developments. Any Rails developer is bound to pickup at least 5 new tools for their tool-belt.

It's not surprising that they changed the topic, since Rails can't scale. ;)

I'm looking forward to this meeting very much!

Looks like a lot of the "Scaling Rails" content by Gregg can be viewed in these screencasts:

Sounds interesting. Are these being taped? (And what is the URL)

I am taking a Bio-Informatics course that meets every Tuesday through
May.

If you missed February's meeting, Jason and Gregg did a very similar
presentation at acts_as_conference:
