This month we're going to try an experiment with Google Hangouts
On-Air. For those unfamiliar: Google Hangouts is a video conferencing
system that is part of Google+. It is very well done and allows you to
share your screen or select a single window to share over the
conference. In addition there are multiple video stream that you can
choose to watch.
Recently Google began to roll out the "On-Air" functionality which
means we can stream the video content live to YouTube. I've been
playing around with this over the past two weeks and I am comfortable
enough with the tech that I want to stream our June 12th meeting live.
This also has the side benefit of solving many of the recording issues
we've had recently as after the session is over the content is
automatically saved to YouTube.
So, I need some help on this. Orchestrating this will require more
attention than I can give during the meeting. Ideally whoever steps up
would be able to commit to doing this for the next few months at all
of our meetings. If you have been looking to get involved with the
organization of BostonRB this is a great opportunity. Please get in
touch.
I will be heading over to BrightCove early this week to do a dry-run
of this, if you are interested in helping you will need to be
available to attend.
