Description
The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) is seeking a web
application developer to participate in a large project using the Ruby
on Rails framework. The ideal candidate will have at least one year
of experience with Rails and a deep understanding of the Ruby
language. Preference will be given to developers who have worked on
applications that have gone into production. It is essential that the
candidate have experience with test-driven development (TDD),
especially as it applies to Rails.
This is a team-oriented, egalitarian environment, utilizing some
agile development methodologies. It is very important that the
candidate will be comfortable in such a setting. Although most work
will involve Ruby on Rails, engineers will be expected to have the
ability to deal with database and server issues also. A well-
developed, well-rounded toolset is therefore expected.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have 1+ years of experience with Rails
- Candidate must have 3+ years of object-oriented programming
experience (Ruby, Python, or Perl given preference)
- Experience with TDD
- Experience with Linux (esp. Fedora)
- Experience in database design and development; any well-known flavor
acceptable
Preferred:
- jQuery experience
- CSS troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Rails deployment issues and solutions
Education:
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
