Sysdba access and connecting

I have a gdb file for a database at work. The old administrator isn't there
any more. I need to set up and manage the database. I am doing this from
home on my home network first so I do not make a mistake at work.

I installed Interbase 6. The server running at work is 5.5. It was developed
using Server 5.5...is there going to be a compatibility problem here?

Sysdba, what is the default password? How do I change it?

AFter setting up Server 6, I now have the file located on NT 4.0 Server
d:\database\macdb\switches.gdb

How do I log in, add the file, log into the file and get the thing up and
running?

The documentation gives no examples if there are no servers/databases
already running.

Don't use 5.5. at all. It have some serious bugs.

The best is to make backup and restore it with 6.

On newly installed IB - masterkey (case-sensetive). Change - via IBConsole,
being logged as SYSDBA. If you need to do it on old installation and don't know
password, you have to replace ISC4.gdb by fresh one. But all users definitions
will be lost.
