I have Delphi 2007 Win 32 on Vista. It just updated itself and the Help
file location appears to have changed.

When I select Help - Codegear Help I get the error "The local disk does not
contain the files for C:\program files\codegear\Rad Studio\5.0\Help\doc" as
expected. Please update the location.

When I look in that location I have nothing but a NexusDBV2 folder.

I have never been happy with Help on Delphi 2007. Part of the reason we
still have not migrated from Delphi 6 which I have on another machine.

Could it be that something went wrong in the Vista Installation ???
For example, if I click a component (eg a button) and press F1 I get an
error message "Cannot find file %s."

Please help !!!!

John

John,

Have you tried running a Repair on you install?

Thanks for your efforts but - Bad News. I just tried running the Repair.
It took over an hour - and a big part of the time was when it said that it
was downloading Help files.

But I still get exactly the same error message - that "The local disk does

not
contain the files for C:\program files\codegear\Rad Studio\5.0\Help\doc" as
expected. Please update the location."

Also, within a project, if I click a component (eg a button) and press F1 I
get the error message "Cannot find file %s." instead of any help.

I have CodeGear Delphi 2007 for Win32 running on Vista.

Just to also confirm that I am also running Delphi 2007 as Administrator.
(I still get Vista's message to say that bds.exe is an "unidentified program
wanting access to my computer" which I then have to allow).

What happens now ??? 3 days have gone by (or more since Friday)
I paid for a support contract and emailed the person I understood to be
providing support.

No reply yet - and my Delphi 2007 still gives me no help.

Fortunately I am still using Delphi 6 on another machine.
Its months since I bought Delphi 2007 (end of May) and I still have not made
the transition over.

Could you please get your support people to contact me.

best wishes
John Jefkins

I don't know -- unfortunately I've been traveling (I'm in Korea right
now) and I haven't been able to do much about it other than forward the
email.

Thanks Nick.
Part of the problem was that the password supplied for my subscription
contrat did not work.
This is now solved and somebody at CodeGear is looking into this.
I do not appear to have any of the files that are supposed to have
downloaded (despite having Vista setup as administrator). Perhaps Delphi
should be installed into the D: drive instead of C: since Vista is so fussy
about the security of anything in c:\program files !!

I had always just used the defaults.

Well, the "standard" is to put it in Program Files.

I agree that Vista is a real pain about this.

Peter Manning has replied to suggest downloading the entire update 3 zip
file (700Mb) and then de-installing and re-installing Delphit 2007.

This seems to be a real pain. 3rd party updates may have to be
re-installed....

Thank God I have not yet switched off good old Delphi 6 - (on another
machine) or else my business would have gone under by now.

However, it gets worse - because every time I try downloading the file from
the website, it stops after getting onkly a few percent through the
download.

Is there a good time of day or night to try downloading this file. (We are
on London time).

I had the same problem. What I did (using Firebird, not IE) is install the
"DownThemAll!"
plug-in which allows the Pausing and restart of downloads. So when the
download
was interrupted due to Codegear's server disconnecting/stopping, I just
restarted
and it picked up where it left off.

Thanks folks. I did manage to run the download finally.
I had to keep restarting each time it stopped. By carefully clicking the
HTTP button once and being patient for a few seconds (whilst it reloaded the
temporary file) it allowed me to restart from the same point and get a bit
further.

I still had about 10 restarts but I did get the full download.

By then unzipping it to a new folder, and running it from a command prompt
with the /Upgrade option (and giving it the new-folder name as the source
of the unzipped files) I was able to upgrade everything without needing to
re-install the 3rd party products.

I hope this helps others with the same problem.

I get a similar issue with Developer Studio 2006 on XP Pro.
