I really do enjoy my NEC MultiSync 1830 - also because it's very
affordable, comparatively speaking ;-)

The Samsung 240T is worth a look. At 1920 x 1200 resolution, one would
finally be able to see all of the essential IDE windows simulatenously
without them overlapping.

It's hard enough just to cram the main IDE toolbar, object inspector,
project manager, code editor, local variables, watch window, call stack, and
breakpoint list into a 1600 x 1200.

Back in the days of Delphi 4, before we were able to share a desktop layout
among multiple projects, I wrote a Delphi app that, when run from the
right-click popup menu of a .dpr file, used a template to generate a .dsk
file for that project. Thus whenever I went to open a project I could fix
that project's desktop to my standard before it was opened (I would
right-click the file to run my utility inside Delphi's file open dialog).

It's amazing how much more productive you can be when all of the essential
windows are always visible, always in the same place, and never overlapping.
I have everything tweaked so that not a single pixel is wasted.

Personally I use an Eizo 16" (L461). This does 1280 x 1024 native
resolution at a price which is only a little higher than some of the top
end 15" units. UK prices put the 16" LCD at ~ £700. Last time I
looked, comparable 17/18" models still commanded a significant price
premium over their 16" cousin.

1280x1024 is pretty much the minimum for any development, let alone
Delphi, but the price of 17/18" models is hard to justify comapred to 19
and even 21" CRT monitors.

The 16" nicely plugged a hole in the midrange of the LCD market, IMHO.

Just like the IBM I'm using here at their Solutions conference. Just
wish it did 1600x1200, so I didn't have to scale down my notebook
resolution.
